The sentencing proceedings related to the May 14, 2022 tragedy may bring renewed grief, painful memories, and many different emotions.

However you are feeling, you deserve support and a place where you feel welcome.
Dumas R.I.S.E. Providers, Inc. (DRP), in partnership with Urban Christian Ministries, is creating Community Healing Spaces where individuals and families can gather, receive emotional support, and spend time with others. These spaces are made possible with funding from Buffalo Together, Inc.

What You Can Expect

Our plans include opportunities to connect with mental health professionals and peer supporters, quiet reflection, meditation or prayer, supportive conversations, and coffee, tea, and light refreshments. A designated viewing area is also planned for those who wish to follow the sentencing proceedings in a supportive environment. Available activities may vary by location.

There is no expectation that you tell your story or take part in a group. You are welcome to engage in whatever way feels comfortable for you.

Healing Beyond This Moment

These spaces are being established in response to the upcoming proceedings, but the need for care and connection reaches beyond a trial or verdict. Grief and healing do not follow a set timeline. Our commitment to community wellness continues beyond this moment.

Whether you come to talk, reflect, connect, or simply spend time, there is a place for you.
